George Heisel
Board Member, Florida International University Board of Trustees George Heisel is a seasoned entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist with over two decades of experience in leadership roles across a wide range of industries, including specialty finance, healthcare, and international business. As President of ExpoCredit, George oversees a specialty finance company that purchases over $1 billion annually in accounts receivable and accounts payable, providing critical growth capital to small and medium enterprises across the Americas.
An alumnus of Babson College, George has served as a judge for business plan competitions at Columbia University and Babson College, further demonstrating his commitment to fostering the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders. His extensive international experience includes living and working in Brazil, where he managed operations across South America and developed innovative public-private partnerships in healthcare.
In addition to his business endeavors, George has dedicated himself to numerous philanthropic efforts. He has been actively involved in organizations such as The Eli Home, Miami Children’s Hospital, and Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he served on the Medical Center Foundation Board. He is also a member of the Florida Highway Patrol Advisory Council.
George has an understanding of Portuguese with proficiency in reading, reflecting his deep ties to South America and his commitment to fostering cross-cultural collaboration. His professional and personal life exemplify his passion for creating opportunities that empower others, aligning with Florida International University's mission to transform lives through education, research, and innovation.
George lives in Miami with his wife, Gabriela, and their three children. When not working or volunteering, he enjoys traveling and exploring Latin American culture.
