Alberto R. Taño
Dr. Alberto R. Taño has been working, teaching and volunteering in the field of Neonatology since 1989. He is a co-founder and Medical Director of KIDZ Medical Services and Emergency Pediatric Services, and serves as the Director of multiple Neonatal units in South Florida. Dr. Taño is also a professor, philanthropist and healthcare leader who serves as the President of the Medical Staff at West Kendall Baptist Hospital.
Board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in both Neonatology and Pediatric Medicine, Dr. Taño is an active member of the Florida Society of Neonatologists and the American Pediatric Society/Society of Pediatric Research. After medical school abroad, Dr. Taño completed his internship at New Rochelle Hospital Medical Center before going to the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo for his pediatric residency. Dr. Taño underwent fellowship training in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
In addition to his hospital-based practice, Dr. Taño is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at FIU and an Affiliate Assistant Professor at Florida Atlantic University’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. He is also a co-founder of Air Medical Charters, LLC, a full-service air ambulance and executive charter transportation provider based in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Taño is a community builder and philanthropist. He serves as a member of the Florida International University Board of Trustees and is the Vice Chair of the Dean's Advisory Council at the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Together with his wife, he led the creation of The Albert and Debbie Taño Simulation Center at the Wertheim College of Medicine. It is a world-class multidisciplinary training and research facility whose mission is to create new curricula in simulation medicine, enhance student performance, improve patient safety, promote continuous quality improvement, and advance the use of technology in medical training.
