President and General Manager of Local Media in Miami Univision Communications, Inc. 

Claudia is recognized as one of the most powerful Latina Broadcast Executives in the industry.  As President and General Manager of Local Media in Miami, Claudia oversees Univision’s 2 Television stations, 4 radio stations and digital platforms with responsibility for sales, content, finance, marketing, and engineering… and community relations.  Both TV and the Radio stations are established leaders in ratings and revenues. Along with digital services, radio and television remain two of the most important media for Hispanics in the U.S., and Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), is the leading media company serving this important segment of the population.

Claudia joined Tichenor Media in 1997 as SVP/ General Manager that by 2003 would merge and became Univision. She soon became Eastcoast Regional Manager and was responsible for the overall supervision of operations, finances, sales, business development, and programming for a total of nine Univision Radio stations in Miami, New York and Puerto Rico which she revamped into leading stations in each market.

In 2014 Claudia was appointed General Manager and then President for all the Univision platforms including TV, Radio and digital in South Florida.

With over 25 years of experience in U.S. Hispanic media, prior to joining Univsion, Claudia was Vice President and General Manager of the Spanish Broadcasting Systems for about with years. While at SBS, she directed all aspects of sales, marketing, promotions and business development at the local and national level. In addition to SBS, Claudia has also held several leadership positions across advertising and sales at Heftel Broadcasting and ATT/BellSouth Yellow Pages.

Claudia served as a Governor appointee on the Board of Trustees of Florida International University, her alma mater, for sixteen years, and the last three as Chairwoman. She was recently appointed to the Board of the Florida International University Foundation. She also served as a Presidential appointee on the board of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, where she chaired the Audit and Finance Committee. Also served as the Florida Regent in George Washington’s Mt Vernon Ladies Association. She also chaired the Florida Association of Broadcasters and is still a member. Other community entities that she served are Aetna, Health Foundation of South Florida, United Way of Miami-Dade, Hispanic Board of the American Cancer Society and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.  Claudia is also a member of the Orange Bowl. Claudia is proud to have recently named one of the 50 Most Powerful Latinas by Fortune Magazine in conjunction with the Association of Latino Professionals for America. For close to ten years in a row, she has been named among the “50 Most Influential Women in Radio” by Radio Ink Magazine and was also honored as “Manager of the Year” receiving the prestigious “Medalla de Cortez” Award presented by Radio Ink Magazine. In 2020, Claudia was recognized General Manager of the Year by Broadcasting and Cable Magazine among all the top 25 markets in US.

Claudia and her husband of nearly 30 years, Richard Amundsen, have three grown children and five grandchildren.
