Alyssa Mederos serves as the 2026–2027 Student Body President of Florida International University, representing and advocating for more than 56,000 students. In this role, she works closely with university administration while overseeing the operations and responsibilities of Student Government, including the allocation of a $20 million budget dedicated to enhancing the student experience across campus.
Alyssa is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science on a pre-law track within the Honors College at FIU, while also completing an accelerated Master’s degree in Public Administration. Her academic and leadership experiences reflect her passion for public service and her dedication to creating meaningful impact both on campus and beyond.
Throughout her time at FIU, Alyssa has remained actively involved in student leadership and advocacy. In addition to her role within Student Government, she has been a dedicated leader in Fraternity and Sorority Life. Alyssa previously served as the Panhellenic Vice President of Operations, helping strengthen collaboration and engagement among the sorority community, and currently serves as Chapter President of her sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi.
As Student Body President, Alyssa is focused on advancing initiatives that support student success, strengthen campus involvement, and enhance the overall university experience. Through her leadership and involvement across multiple areas of student life, she strives to amplify the voices of students and foster a stronger, more connected FIU community.
